A dangerous thing is happening in my neck of the woods, Grainiacs. I'm going off the grid. I'm mindlessly eating and now I'm mindlessly purchasing!
It all began when Hubby and I suggested a certain type of fundraiser to the area pastors and leaders. The monies raised would help defray the cost of attending an amazing once in a lifetime youth event in the summer. It all seemed so innocent. I mean "who doesn't want to help the youth?" What better way than to auction off delicacies that the youth (or their mothers) made?
Problem was not many churches or their people attended. Bidding started at $3.00 and was going up by 25 cents so whole pies were going for $4.50. At that rate we would be lucky to raise $50.00! So Strawberry (ever the philanthropist) seemed to have to start the bidding every time because people were just sitting there!!! Pretty soon I was getting a bidding war going. Unfortunately I wound up being the top bidder. It happens. I had set a certain limit for myself. I mean, my son is going to this amazing event, right?!?! One youth is a wonderful baker so I couldn't let her goodies sit on the bidding table with no one even starting the bid. What message does that send to our youth?
So, I'd like to invite you to a dessert party at my house. I have desserts galore and that was even sharing some with the folk last night!
Have I said "This is it" before? I mean it. One grainiac is sending her eating menus to me. I am going to reciprocate and do the same thing but it will be here on the blog. Yes! You will be viewing my eating habits. I'm hoping that the sheer embarrassment of posting what I ate the day before will snap me out of this danger zone I'm in. Warning, Strawberry Robinson....danger up ahead. So there's the scoop--
speaking of scoops, do you see that wonderful trifle in the background?
Stop that, Moana! You are not eating a bite of that trifle. It is on its way out of the house.
Have an orange gerber daisy day today, Grainiacs and stay tuned for "Let's see what Strawberry consumed in a day!" It is sure to be enlightening (at least for me!).
