Two days ago I posted on Fb a picture that again I say most humbly is true about me or I wish were true about me (please don't burst my bubble if it isn't true; I don't think I could take the rejection!!!).
I wonder if I could get this on my tombstone. Wait, I don't want a tombstone! |
I also posted this little ditty and that is why I have my problem and started a blog in the first place!!
The "eat pie" would most likely be on my tombstone-- that is, if I didn't want to be cremated and scattered to the wind. Apropos, wouldn't you say? Scattered??? Get it???? |
- No starches....absolutely, positively.....NO BREAD/ NO CHIPS shall
touch my lipstravel down my throat (okay you caught me, it is possible for me to eat bread without it touching my lips and I sure don't want it taken intravenously!).
- No soft drinks of any kind- caffeinated or not. None. Zippo.
- No sugar
- No nighttime eating
I'm leading a women's Bible study on the book of Esther. Esther is a wonderful story about one woman's strength in a time of trial. I am reading Esther with a new lens. Although there are historical discrepancies (for example, in extrabiblical sources King Xerxes' wife's name is recorded as Amestris or the fact that history records Xerxes off in battle when the whole beauty pageant supposedly happened....things like that), the lessons far outweigh that. Esther is meant to be read aloud and all at once. Reading the book in this fashion helps see the ironies and the reversals. What you think is going to happen is the very opposite of what actually happens. I'm feeling a bit like the book of Esther. I say I'm going to diet and the very opposite happens: I gain! Another lesson in Esther deals with abundance versus excess. What is enough? Do I really need to go back for that second piece of whatever. I tend to do things to the excess. I need to appreciate the abundance of other things I have. I've started making cards. As with my personality, I bought a whole lotta stuff in order to make cards. I realized I'm buying more stuff but not really making lottsa cards!!!! I will replace nighttime eating with nighttime card making.
Probably the most quoted verse in Esther is this: "And who knows, you may have been chosen ... for just such a time as this." The verse actually has the word "queen" where I put the "..." But who knows I may be Queen Strawberry for such a time as this!
Onward on my week.
